After winning several prizes with his short films, Roberto was selected by Alberto Barbera to take part in the Biennale Cinema College in 2016 as the Italian representative among 12 directors from all over the world.
In 2019, he directed his first feature film, “The Nest ”.
The movie premiered in Piazza Grande at the Locarno Film Festival and was nominated for the First Feature Award and the Variety Award. It was also selected for the international competition at the Sitges Fantastic Film Festival. The Nest was released in cinemas by Universal Pictures and Vision Distribution, and it was sold in more than 50 countries.

In 2021, Roberto co-directed his second feature film, "A Classic Horror Story". The film, a Netflix Original, became the second most-watched movie on Netflix worldwide. In July 2021, The New York Times included it in its list of the Top 5 horror movies to watch on streaming platforms.
The movie was also nominated for a David di Donatello award, presented by the Italian Academy of Cinema. Roberto De Feo and Paolo Strippoli won the Best Director Award at the Taormina Film Festival.
In 2023, Stephen King's publisher, Sperling & Kupfer, released
Roberto's first horror novel, "The Innocence of Darkness".
